The Flush Valve

The WellTamer incorporates a flush valve into the shroud assembly to purge solids from the intake screen. This is the first pump shroud designed to incorporate the intake screen flushing capability. US Patent No.6533033, March 2003.

The flush valve is basically a high flow, low Cv, quick exhaust valve for water. It is an investment casting of 304 Stainless steel. There is one moving part, the shuttle, which relocates in the valve between a pumping and flushing position.

This valve has been field and laboratory tested for reliability in seating, unseating and material life. The design life is 5 years with a flush cycle every 4 hours (10,000 Cycles). The valve is tested at a simulated install depth of 3500 feet using 140 degree water. 1,000 psi working pressure.

The Flush Valve has two configurations. First, the integrated style serves to terminate the top of the WellTamer assembly. Secondly, the valve-only is available for inline applications, i.e. other shrouds or industrial applications.

The inlet and outlet of the valve is a Female 2” NPT thread.
